  1. Hi John

I’m looking into a quick detach mount for a 35 mm razor hd and I was wondering what you would suggest? I watched your review on the American defense recon, but as you had said there are limitations on them. I have found a company called Talbot that make them also located in the states but they are double the price. Is there anything between both of those price points?

    1. Hi John

I can’t seem to find a model on bobro’s website that is a 35mm QD mount. I’m not sure if this is a discontinued model, but I am curious now. I also await your review on the Alamo mounting system

  2. Hi john, I was reading up on barrel tuning an barrel harmonics and I was just looking to get your outlook on the process an results. I would like to say I have a little experience with precision rifles but until recently I’ve not heard much of this process.

  3. Hi john,
I was looking to et your on the process of barrel tuning. I’d like to see if you have tried this in the past an what you got as a result. I would like to say I know a little about precision rifling but up until recently I’ve heard very little of the process. I’d appreciate it if you could just touch base on it and let us know If the pros out weigh the cons. Thanks again on the YouTube channel an I’m looking forward to the full reveiw on the MDT LSS chassis system!

  4. Hi John, I’ve enjoyed you’re reviews and was wandering what your assessment of a Mcrees chassis (for a Rem. 700) was. It’s similar to a W3 in that it’s “open” top above the barrel and action, but at half the price I was curious as to how different they really are aside from the obvious.

    1. They are fairly different in feel. The main ergonomic feature I love about the W3C is the ability to “float” your thumb on the same side of the action. There is a ramp there specifically for that purpose. In my experience this aids in faster bolt manipulation. The W3C also feels more like a traditional stock to me than the McRee’s. The McRee’s has a little more of an AR feel to it.

  5. I would like to know which scope you think is more worth the money between the vortex razor hd 5-20×50, Bushnell 3.5-21×50 elite tactical ERS, or save a little more and get the nightforce 3.5-15×50 F1

  6. I have been tossing back and forth trying to decide on chassis for my rem 700. Do you have an opinion acis or a mcree?

  7. Hello, I really appreciate the knowledge you share in your videos, I have learned a lot a out precision rifles. I was wondering if you could explain how to use a 0.1mil turret scope in a little more detail. Thank you.

  8. Hi John,
I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now, and I’m finally set toward buying an AI AX, which you reviewed, I have one question though – how do you do a barrel change on AX?…just
like on AW?…I like to think ahead and your video didn’t touch on that, and let me say first that I loved that video…it was pretty much half the reason to go for AI AX. Thank you.

    1. Swapping barrels on the AX is very similar to the AW. We didn’t cover it because it is SN armorers level procedure that requires a barrel vise and action wrench. However the new AX Multi Caliber can swap barrels with nothing more than the included Allen key.

  9. Hey John, I did your step by step for the Rem.700 sps tactical including the B&C M 24 stock, I topped it off with the Burris Eliminator III 4x16x50mm w/96 reticle. Now I find that I need an adjustable cheek rest to get the correct sight line. Which one would you recommend?

  10. Hello John, I’ve been researching the Drake Hunter Stalker Rifle and found that there is not much as far as reviews on the system. I would value your general assessment of the system as a precision lr rig, pros cons. Or even a simple good to go. The website claims 1/4″ at 800m? Thank you in advance.

  11. John, are you moving forward with a review of the BEAST. I watched the MCM which included your initial thoughts and the features…but I am hopeing to get your thoughts now that you’ve run it fir several months and been to several matches with it. Maybe include those thoughts on an upcoming MCM?

  12. Hello,

I’m thinking about buying a savage 10fcp McMillan. I hope to go to sniper school someday, and this would be the rifle I’d train with. Would it be suitable to, with the proper bedding solution, etc., get ready? If not, what would you recommend? Thank you for all of your videos and articles.

  13. Hello,

I have finished by first build. 18″ BCM upper with rifle length gas system that is non adjustable. After my first range trip I noticed excessive recoil compared to an M&P. We were both shooting 556 federal. I currently have an A2 brake which is getting swapped out for a M4-72 and I am hoping to see a lot of improvement. Nevertheless, this experience has got me researching buffer assemblies. I am getting stuck on the differences between a JP Captive system, flat wire springs like the Tubb or a mil spec CS spring with heavier weights. Seems the JP works best with adjustable gas blocks and light weight carriers. What would you recommend for longer range bench shooting and reduction in recoil? I haven’t found a comparison of the there systems or the applications the most favor.

Thank you for all the great information you’ve made available. You’ve saved me a lot of time and money already.

  14. Good afternoon John and better half! Question on your RCBS Chargemaster(s)….. How are these holding up and how long have you had each (I’ve noticed an additional hopper in the background of MCM)? I’m looking at getting one but, as with anything, there are some negative reviews that are giving me pause. Primarily around longevity and ongoing customer support from RCBS (after the 1st year). You opinion is valued. Lay it on me. I’m really looking to speed up my reloading process and this seems to be the area that I could get the most lift.

    Thanks!

  15. Hey John, I’ve been watching Mail Cal Mondays for some time now and really enjoy it. My question pertains to working up a reload from scratch. I recently had a new 6.5nm Krieger 1:8 tube installed on a Winchester m70 action, chambered in 6.5-300WSM. Would you start with group testing at various distance from the lands, or pick a distance and change the powder charge? Thanks.

  16. I’ve been looking at Remingtons 700 Gen 2 in 5R .308 and now I am considering the FNH SPR A5M also in .308 . I was wondering what your thought on these rifles would be as far as best choice. I understand changing the trigger on a Remington is a given but haven’t seen anything as far as the FNH. I would like to just slap a scope on and I would be happy hitting paper at 300 yrds. I would like to have the better one to one day reach out farther.

    1. FN makes a very high quality rifle if you are looking for something that is ready to roll, it would be a good choice. I have not been impressed with the quality coming from Remington lately. You may get a great shooter or you may buy a pile of problems. There is little doubt that a good rifle smith can build a Remington 700 into whatever you want, but if that is the case, just but an SPS and save some money versus the 5R.

  17. Hi John, I’m a big fan and wanted to thank you for your channel; you have been an inspiration as I started recreational shooting. Almost everyone I talk to regarding the hobby has seen your channel.

I am about to upgrade and need your advice:
    – Should I purchase an AI AXMC .308 and suffer the cost of changing calibre and re-barrel to the 6.5 Creedmoor; or
    – Should I go with the AI Chassis system with a Surgeon/Bartlein combo in 6.5mm?
The crux of my question is, which action would you choose?
I already have a S&B PMII 5-25 optic to go with this setup.

    Look forward to your feedback

  18. Hi john,
I am looking at buying a Ruger PRS. I will put a nightforce Atacr 5-25×56 on it. I am having trouble figuring out what height scope rings I need. What height scope rings should I get? Also rings or a unimount? Thank you for your service.

  19. Hi John,

How is the Faxon 6.5 Grendel performing thus far? There really isn’t any concise range reports on this barrel and I’m eager to see how it performs with a skilled marksman behind it. Thanks!

  20. John-

I watched your comparison on the RPR and Savage 10 BA Stealth. I would like to see, as i am sure many others, what your thoughts are on comparing the RPR to the Tikka T3x TAC A1 in 6.5 creedmoor. I’m looking into both of these and would like some more knowledge on the two. Hopefully we can see a youtube video on it. Thanks for your time.

  21. good evening sir, was wondering if you ever did a review on the Bushnell tactical LMSS spotter scope. I saw you had a unboxing and initial impression but was there a actual review and or your thoughts on this spotter. love the show!! awesome content!!!

  22. Hi John!
I’m looking for an action and a barrel to mount a precision rifle (6.5 creedmoor). I’ve been looking at the website for a while. By the way, I am Canadian, so I have a lot of trouble finding on Canadian side. I found a kit (action and barrel) on the website of Ultimatum Precision. I know you made a video on youtube that talked about this action. I know something was happening to you with their action! Do you think I can trust them?
Here is the link of the kit.

    Thank you
