  1. Hi John,
I am looking at getting into shooting longer than my 308 can handle. I was looking into 338 LM but it looks like it will be out of my price range so I’ve turned to 7mm rem mag or 300 win mag. I’m leaning more towards the 7mm due to the excellent BC and most 30 cals have bad BCs, unless you are shooting 200+ grain bullets. For projectiles I like the Burger 180gr VLDs for 7mm. My only issue is that I can’t find many precision factory guns in 7mm mag. I was looking at the Remington 700 Sendero. Please let me know your thoughts on the cartridge and the gun.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    1. I don’t have any hands on with the 7mmRM Sendero, but if that is the way you want to go it’s a safe bet. If the barrel doesn’t perform to your expectations, then having it rebarreled with a custom tube and chamber to your specs will get you match winning accuracy.

    2. Andrew,
I got done with my 7mmRM Sendero SFII build about the time you asked this question. It is deadly accurate. I’m making first round shots on steel out to 1200 yrds with the factory barrel. I’m not done adding things. But if you would like to pictures and a list of what I have done.. hit me up

  2. John,

Your Youtube channel is top rate, solid work. I’ve learned a lot from all of the channels and am looking forward to wringing out my new Spartan Precision rifle. Here in Cali Marc from Spartan is the man, and always available for advice and tips. My question for you is who has helped you become the shooter and wealth of knowledge that us Youtubers have come to enjoy watching.

  3. Your Budget Precision Build write up has been very educational as I outfit my Rem 700. However,The last 2 sections do not have an active link to the full articles on stock upgrades and magazine systems. Are these articles available elsewhere? or can you correct the link? Many thanks for the attention to detail and objective info.

    1. I also greatly enjoyed the precision build article. I wanted to continue, and as Brett said, the last two article links are not active. I would love to read them if at all possible.

  4. I’m looking for a heavy barrel for my savage 30-06 and cant find a good place to purchase one. How do I determine if its the right barrel for my gun also thanks in advance

  5. John…been following your YouTube channel. I am getting back into shooting several discipline s ( USPSA) after a 4 year hiatus. My pseudo safe queen was a Remington 700 in .308 w a Leupold VR3 that my brother set up for me. He taught me the very basics of bullet drop, zero and establishing my dope and ranging w mil dots. That was 10 years ago…now it seems like it is shots under time from challenging positions all w known distances. What I am getting at…is I would like to see something for a beginner to get into…basically now that I have bought the “budget sniper rifle”…how do I go about finding and shooting my first match. Thanks so much. T. Melick (Central IL)

  6. I was looking for a link to submit an idea for mail call Mondays and didn’t find one. So here goes, I’ve been looking around at “best methods” for installing AR barrels. There are so many options out there and concerns with each, with vise block clam enclosures, blocks with internal support like dpms, reaction rods, NOMAR blocks and magpul bev block. I’d love to find a destructive test review to see what fails at what torque with each type. Will threads strip, locating pin shear, upper crush, upper pivot lugs twist or shear off, blocks break or upper crack? Would you do something like this or any suggestions for someone who would? Think Aero would donate some blems and other mfgs supply the tools for the cause? You guys do some awesome videos and share some great information. Hope to see you keep up the great work with more! Thanks!

  7. Would you possibly be able to do an overview on how you would reload .308 for magazine loaded, precision use? I am getting into reloading and am looking for somewhere to start.
