Accuracy International Competition Trigger

Accuracy International announces a collaboration with X-TREME Shooting Products, LLC to product the new AI Competition Trigger.

The Accuracy International family of rifles have always been renown for their ruggedness and reliability. They were designed first and foremost as a Sniper Rifle for use in combat. This ruggedness and dependability had made them an excellent choice for precision competition shooters. Precision rifle matches are held in all manner of weather conditions. Rain, snow, mud and blowing dust are all situations that can take a finely tuned rifle out of service. The AI rifles seem to take it all in stride. ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger (ACT)

As a precision rifle shooter, I am a bit of a trigger snob. I was forced to qualify in the Marine Corps with a rack grade M16A2 with a horribly gritty trigger with loads of creep. Whenever I hear the term “USGI Trigger”, I always think back to those ugly triggers. This reaction caused me to put off looking at the ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger. The ALG ACT is essentially a USGI type trigger with a couple of added features. After using the ACT, I may have to re-evaluate my prejudice against USGI type triggers. Ruger 10/22 Tactical Trainer (Part 2 do-over) Ruger BX-Trigger

BX-TriggerOne of the firs things we noticed when we started this project was how horrible the factory trigger on our 10/22 was. Not only was it very heavy for a light rifle, but when loading pressure the trigger would “creep” forward before eventually breaking. This is not a good situation for overall accuracy. The factory pull weight was close to six pounds. This makes it very difficult to keep precise sight alignment on a light weight rifle. The angle of the wrist portion of the stock also made it extremely difficult to get a “straight to the rear” pull. I knew that in order to get any meaningful results from our modifications, we would need to address the trigger. Continue reading Ruger 10/22 Tactical Trainer (Part 2 do-over) Ruger BX-Trigger

Remington set to expand Recall to include ALL Model 700 rifles.

DSC01980
Earlier this year Remington announced a product safety recall of the massively popular Model 700. The recall covered all Remington Model 700 and Model 7 rifles produced between May 1, 2006 and April 9, 2014. The recall information found on Remington’s website states that excessive bonding agent in the trigger mechanism could cause an unintentional discharge. If you would like to check if your rifle is covered under the initial recall you can enter your serial number on Remington’s webpage. If your rifle falls under the recall, Remington will issue a prepaid shipping label.

In a story that broke earlier this week on the NBC News website, NBC announced that Remington has agreed to recall all Remington 700 rifles. This could amount to 7.8 million rifles. This comes as part of a settlement of two class action lawsuits accusing Remington and its owners of “negligence, breach of warranty, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and fraudulent concealment”. Remington states the settlement is an effort “to avoid the uncertainties and expense of protracted litigation.”

It is important to note that Remington emphasizes this is NOT a recall. It is a chance for concerned owners to have their triggers retrofitted at no charge. Continue reading Remington set to expand Recall to include ALL Model 700 rifles.

Hiperfire Hipertouch 24E Trigger Review

Hipertouch24E_20140106_T3i_009_1080AR15 triggers are a dime a dozen. I have lost count of how many different triggers I have shot. Single stage, two stage, standard GI style, the list goes on. It takes a lot to get me excited about a new AR trigger.

When I first came across the Hiperfire line of triggers I was intrigued. The trigger does not look like any other trigger on the market. I sent an email to Hiperfire and promptly got a reply from Terry Bender, the owner and designer. Terry was happy to call me to explain how the trigger functions and what distinguishes it from other AR triggers. A couple days later a brand new Hipertouch 24E showed up at our door.
