Bushnell “Match Pro” NRL 22 Focused Scope

Bushnell has just released a rifle scope specifically designed for National Rifle League 22 competition. The “Match Pro” 6-24x50mm has a long list of features that will appeal to precision/tactical shooters at a price point that will keep it legal for NRL 22 Base Class. The Match Pro will be shipping next week with a MSRP of $499.99.

Sunshade and scope caps are available, but will not be included. Bushnell is really putting all of the money into the scope and reducing the accessories and packaging to meet the highly competitive base class price range.

We are working with Bushnell to receive one of the Match Pro scopes for one of our Base Class NRL 22 rifles. We will be completing a full review as soon as possible.

Features:

  • First Focal Plane
  • 6-24x Magnification Range
  • 50mm Objective Lens
  • Parallax down to 10 yards
  • 10 Mil per Revolution Turrets
  • 18 Mil of travel for windage and elevation (allows for 25 yard zero with 30 MOA base on many rifles)
  • Tool-less Zero Reset
  • Deploy MIL etched glass reticle
  • Illuminated Reticle
  • Locking Turrets with tactile clicks
  • 30mm Main Tube
  • EXO Barrier

Primary Arms announces new GLx Scope Line

Primary Arms Gold Series 6-24x50FFP Rifle Scope – Illuminated Athena BPR MIL

Primary Arms has just announced the pre-order of their new Gold Series scope line. The Gold Series scopes are designed in Texas and made in the Philippines. They are placed as a mid-tier scope just under their Platinum line, but boast some very nice features. The most interesting model for most precision rifle shooters will be the 6-24x50mm. It features locking turrets with resettable zero stops as well as several first focal plane reticle options. One very interesting feature is that the magnification ring is customizable with a folding lever to assist in rapid magnification changes.

The GLx series of scopes will all retail under $1000, which places them at a very competitive price point compared to other Precision Rifle oriented FFP scopes with these features. Continue reading Primary Arms announces new GLx Scope Line

Budget Magnification Throw Lever

Variable magnification scopes are the standard for precision rifle competitors. Most shooters will select a magnification setting before starting the stage. However, it’s not uncommon to “lose the target” and have to back down the magnification to re-acquire it. Then swing the magnification back up to confirm that it is the right target. Small or stiff magnification rings make this difficult.

Several manufacturers offer “cat-tails” or “throw-levers” for their scopes. Others offer aftermarket solutions. They are often fairly expensive. Several years ago we came across a cheap and effective solution. Continue reading Budget Magnification Throw Lever

Ruger 10/22 Tactical Trainer (Part 1 do-over) SWFA Scope Installation

IMG_6640We have had some issues with our Ruger 10/22 Build. The accuracy we were seeing was not consistent with what we should have been getting from our modifications. When this occurs, we usually look to the weakest part first. In this case, it was our scope and mounting system. The old Tasco Golden Antler scope did not inspire confidence. It worked fine on one of our older .22 bolt guns, but we think it may have chosen this project to give up the ghost. So to resolve this situation and get back on track, we installed a SS 3-15×42 FFP rifle scope from SWFA Outdoors. To make sure the scope wasn’t going anywhere, we used a set of SWFA rings and a 20 MOA base from Evolution Gun Works. Granted, six screw caps are a little overkill for a .22LR, we can be sure that the system will hold tight after some chance encounters with the barricade. Bushnell AR Optics 1-4x24mm PCL Review

Bushnell AR Optics 1-4x24 PCL
Bushnell AR Optics 1-4x24mm PCL mounted in an Alamo Four Star DLOC 30mm Mount.

When Bushnell sent us one of their AR Optics 1-4x24mm PCL, I had mixed first impressions. The market is flooded with choices for low-magnification variable AR scopes for better viewing. However the more I looked at (and through) the AR Optics 1-4x, the more I liked it. The scope lists for $418 on Bushnell’s online store, but can be found for as low as $230 from online retailers like SWFA. It offers a pile of features for the price point.
