Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9×40 Unboxing

VXR_Patrol_3-9x40_web

We just got our hands on a new Leupold Tactical VX-R 3-9x40mm rifle scope. This looks to be a great option for a LE Sniper Rifle, DMR, SPR or even a hunting rifle. With mil turrets and a mil reticle, you get on target fast. The illuminated Firedot TMR reticle is a great option for low light use. We are looking forward to getting it on a rifle and putting it to use. Keep an eye out for our full review.

Have you ever needed to stuff your AR15 in the smallest case possible? Were you concerned about the terminal energy loss of going to a super short barrel? Does you agency require that you use a “direct impingement” AR platform? Wish you could just break your AR15 in half? Well now you can!

Clips and Magazines

This nation of ours seems to suffer from what I would like to call “Clip Confusion”. I blame Hollywood first, Politicians Second and the Media as a whole last. Now I realize that I do count as part of that last group. Now is my chance to help fix the problem.

Magazine-clipWhen I started my career in the field of arms, nomenclature (the proper names of things) was very important. In fact proper nomenclature could mean the difference between getting to eat or a whole lot of pain and suffering. You see Marine Corps Boot Camp is not tolerant of individuality. You don’t get to call things whatever you want because you think it is cool. You call them by the name the Corps assigned to them or you pay for it. This indoctrination is most likely the source of my ire about the “Clip Confusion”.

SWFA 3-15x42mm Rifle Scope Review

SWFA SS 3-15x42mm
SWFA SS 3-15x42mm Rifle Scope

SWFA has now released their brand new 3-15x42mm rifle scope. This scope fits perfectly in the middle of their lineup. Priced at $699 it is less expensive than their 5-20x and 10xHD models, but stacked with more features than their bargain priced fixed magnification models.

Old School Turrets

The 3-15×42 borrows styling from the classic SWFA SS 10x fixed power rifle scope. You will find the same blocky turrets and fluted ocular housing. Personally I would have preferred the styling follow with the sleeker lines of the 5-20x50mm SS model, but the beauty of the 3-15x is in the function.
