P320 XCompact Coming Soon!

Sig Sauer P320 XCompact

NEWINGTON, N.H., (April 2, 2019) –SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to announce the P320 XCOMPACT is now shipping and available in retail stores.

Sig Sauer, Inc. announced that the P320 XCompact is now shipping to retail dealers nationwide. This is incredibly exciting news for a pistol that I have been waiting for since December.

The XCompact is a brand new form factor in the P320 lineup. You could consider it a minimized “XCarry” or the P320 version of a Glock 19. The XCompact uses Sig’s new sight plate optics cut. This will accept the upcoming ROMEO2 optic or the Leupold Deltapoint Pro. This cutout is the same as that found on the M17 pistol.

The fire control unit of the XCompact is the same as on the rest of the P320 lineup. The grip module is the big change for this model. Sig took the X-Carry grip and put it on a diet. The module is designed to accept 15 round magazines, flush with the bottom of the grip. The back-strap features a more rounded butt. The beavertail of the X-Series is still present, but the area on either side has been slimmed down. The dust cover still features a picatinny rail and my hope is that the Inforce APLc or Surefire XC1 will fit flush with the muzzle.

Sig states that the slide and barrel of the XCompact are the same length as the sub-compact models. This is surprising since you would expect the pattern to follow the Compact barrel and slide length. I am not against this move since it is sacrificing barely a quarter inch of barrel length. This leaves room for a Parker Mountain Machine Micro Comp if you are so inclined (mine is on order). Other features on the slide mirror those found on the M17/M18 military pistols to include a top side loaded chamber indicator. I am not a huge fan of this feature since the extractor bump serves the same purpose without adding extra moving parts.

I am excited to get this new P320 in my hands and see how it will stack up agains the Glock 19 as an every day carry piece. Mine is on backorder at this time and hopefully we will get one in on the first batch released.
