In an effort to keep content on the Blog fresh, I wanted to give you an update on the Nightforce BEAST.
I only had a short amount of time with the new scope before the Woody’s Designated Marksman Match in New Hill, NC. I had planned to run our Mega Arms MATEN in the match to get some gas gun love in. At the same time we were working on our .260 build, which needed a “known good” scope. This didn’t leave me time to get the BEAST out and run tracking on it. The smart thing to do would have been to wait until I returned from Woody’s to mount the BEAST up.
I have never been accused of doing the smart thing in the past. Why start now. So without knowing how it tracked and having some faith in Nightforce’s build quality, I slapped the BEAST and its Nightforce Unimount onto the MATEN. I had enough time to get it zeroed, and verify muzzle velocity. Then we rolled out to the match.
The Woody’s DM Match was definitely a test of speed and ease of use for a rifle scope. The BEAST did well and the match gave me a chance to see how intuitive the i4F turret was without any practice. Overall the BEAST did it’s best to assist me and my partner in a 20th place finish out of 70 teams. We will have more info on the Nightforce BEAST in the full review.
