Accuracy International announces a collaboration with X-TREME Shooting Products, LLC to product the new AI Competition Trigger.
The Accuracy International family of rifles have always been renown for their ruggedness and reliability. They were designed first and foremost as a Sniper Rifle for use in combat. This ruggedness and dependability had made them an excellent choice for precision competition shooters. Precision rifle matches are held in all manner of weather conditions. Rain, snow, mud and blowing dust are all situations that can take a finely tuned rifle out of service. The AI rifles seem to take it all in stride.
I have never taken issue with the factory triggers on the Accuracy International. However, I have also never really felt the need for a super-light trigger on a field gun. I prefer two stage triggers with a slightly heavy pull on a working gun. This allows for the use of gloves without the added risk of a premature discharge. However, in a competition environment, lighter triggers are the norm.
We have previously used the XTSP Mod-22 trigger in several Remington 700 rifles. To date, it is the largest bodied trigger that we have encountered for the Remington 700 platform. This makes it a perfect candidate when we are testing chassis systems.
Originally designed for military use, the Mod-22 is over-built and rugged, but still offers a wide range of adjustment and a very light and clean pull. The trigger is also adjustable for single or two stage operation. All of these features carry over to the AI Competition trigger. The AI Competition will ship with a preset weight of 1.25lbs. (+/- 1.5oz.) . The included spring set will allow adjustment from 0.75lbs. to 2.0lbs.
The AI Competition Trigger will fit the AX, AT and AXMC rifles. It will not fit the AE MkII or other legacy rifles at this time due to differences in the trigger hanger.
