The 2013 Assault Weapon Ban is not Dead!

I am sure you have heard the news. Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid dropped the 2013 “Assault Weapon Ban” from the gun control legislation being considered. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, although “disappointed” stated that she still intends to propose the measure as an amendment.

I am somewhat pleased by this small victory in that the Democrat controlled Senate realizes that the measure would have failed. Most likely that portion of the Bill would have doomed it to failure. Reid stated “I want something that will succeed,” when replying to questions about his decision.

Make no mistake about it. We have not seen the last of this. I firmly believe that Feinstein came on too strong for even her fellow Democrats, in her direct assault on our rights. I believe that you will simply see them go after “easier” legislation and shelf the AWB for this session. Some are also arguing that this is nothing more than a bargaining chip. The gun control proponents can use it to bargain for “less restrictive” measures like their “Universal Background Checks”.

We will discuss the evil of “Universal Background Checks” later on.
