Keystone Sporting Arms, LLC. just announced the new Crickett Precision Rifle on their Facebook page. There is not a lot of information out yet, but it appears the rifle will be available in January 2017 and retail for approximately $310. This small .22 bolt action should appeal to Accuracy International hands who want to outfit their little shooters in style. We hope to have some more information as the 2017 SHOT Show approaches.
CTK Precision Announces New Ruger Precision Rifle Accessories
CTK Precision has released several new accessories for the Ruger Precision Rifle. CTK’s new bolt knob is CNC machined from 6061 Aluminum and features a steel knob extension for strength. The Bolt Knob is Type III Hardcoat Anodized. The extension is parkerized an countered to blend into the factory bot stem. The unique design will definitely stand out on your rifle. ($46 MSRP)
If you are concerned about your buttstock rubbing against the chassis in the folded position, CTK offers their new Ruger Precision Rifle Stock Bumper. It quickly replaces the factor length of pull adjustment knob. ($19 MSRP)
CTK has also released an enlarged and ambidextrous magazine release extension. The Mag Release Extension quickly attaches to the factory magazine release. The mag release should make it easier to drop the magazine with your trigger finger, speeding reloads. ($37 MSRP)
More information and pricing is available on the CTK Precision website.
First Look: Nightforce ATACR F1 7-35x56mm
Early in November, Nightforce was kind enough to invite us to CORE Shooting Solutions in Baker, FL. to check out some of their new products. There was an update to the SHV 5-20×56 elevation turret, a new reticle (Mil-C) and a slick new Nightforce branded Carbon Fiber Tripod. Those were interesting, but the star of the show was the new ATACR F1 7-35x56mm. Continue reading First Look: Nightforce ATACR F1 7-35x56mm
Single Handed Shooting
This short video was spurred by a technique I saw this morning, demonstrated by another instructor. Just because it is new, does not necessarily make it better. Try new techniques, but evaluate them based on the classic methods. There may be a reason the “old way” has stuck around so long.
Equipment used:
- Sig Sauer TacOps Traditional 1911 (.45 ACP)
- Oakley M Frame Alpha Glasses (Prizm Lens)
- Hazard 4 “Heavy Water Diver” Watch
- MSA Sordin Supreme X Ear Pro
Lapua Announces 6.5CM Brass for Q1 2017.
It is “official”! Lapua has announced that brass for the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge will be available in the first quarter of 2017. The Lapua brass should offer some improvements over currently available brass. In addition to Lapua’s usual consistency, the new 6.5CM brass will use small rifle primers. Lapua also opted for a 1.5mm flash hole versus the industry standard 2mm. Hopefully this will help alleviate the need for small diameter firing pin holes on 6.5CM rifles.

Ruger Precision Rifle (Gen 2) Review
We first had a chance to handle and shoot the Ruger Precision Rifle at the 2016 SHOT Show. The outward appearance of the rifle was enough to grab our attention. Once we delved into the details we were hooked. Ruger designed this rifle to specifically target the precision rifle competition shooter. Continue reading Ruger Precision Rifle (Gen 2) Review

Mail Call Mondays Season 5 #24 – Applied Ballistics Seminar
Applied Ballistics Seminar (Sophia, NC)
If you have spent any amount of time in the precision rifle world, it is likely that you have heard of Bryan Litz and Applied Ballistics. Bryan is a long time competitive rifle shooter and current member of the US Rifle Team. He is also the Chief Ballistician of Berger Bullets. To say that Bryan wrote the book on modern rifle ballistics would be true. In fact, he has written several. I first became acquainted with Bryan’s work when I read “Applied Ballistics for the Long Range Shooter”. This book is now in Volume III, and contains an extensive library of tested G7 Ballistic Coefficients for popular long range bullets. I was incredibly excited when Applied Ballistics invited me to their seminar in Sophia, NC. Continue reading Applied Ballistics Seminar (Sophia, NC)
