Olight PL-Pro Weaponlight Review

The Olight PL-Pro uses the same lever as the PL-2 but adds an internal rechargeable battery.

Olight has released an update to their flagship pistol mounted light and it is a substantial one. The Olight PL-Pro took all of the great features of the PL-2 Valkyrie, increased the output and added an internal rechargeable battery.

The Surefire X300-U is the market leader for pistol mounted weapon lights. I own several of them. The original PL-2 Valkyrie offered a great value to those who are not quite in the market for the Surefire. The PL-Pro may have actually taken a step past the X300-U.

Olight has increased the output of the PL-Pro to 1500 lumens compared to the PL-2’s claimed output of 1200 lumens. The programming of the light has also changed. Double-tapping either of the side switches will now drop the light into a 300 lumen low-power mode. This will extend your battery lift and makes the light useful for administrative tasks when not mounted to a weapon or for weapon mounted illumination in close quarters. The light will “remember” the last mode and continue to work in that mode until the switch is double-tapped again. Continue reading Olight PL-Pro Weaponlight Review

Shield Sights RMS Review

Shield Sights is a UK based company that has been designing pistol mounted optics since 1996. The original Shield Mini Sight has been marketed in the US under several names, to include the Firepoint and JPoint. The Shield RMS (Reflex Mini Sight) is their current flagship pistol optic.

We received this optic in August of 2017 and placed it in service on a Gen 4 Glock 19 MOS. The RMS will fit on one of the MOS plates included with the Glock 19. However, if you want the lowest mounting option, you will want to purchase the RMS mounting plate from Shield Sights. The Shield mounting plate will place the RMS low enough to cowitness with factory Glock sights. The compact nature of the Shield RMS is one of its primary selling points. Not having to buy a set of suppressor sights to have a usable backup is also a point in its favor. Continue reading Shield Sights RMS Review

Hits Arms Laser Bullet Review

I am a big fan of dry fire training. There is noting else that can return a greater value for the cost. There are times that dry fire can fix problems that live fire cannot. Any time I come across a product to make dry firing more effective or more interesting, I have to check it out. When Hits Arms asked me to look at their Laser Bullet, I accepted.

The Laser Bullet is a very simple product. It is a brass housing, shaped like a 9mm cartridge. In the tip is a lens and in the base is a switch. You insert the Laser Bullet into the chamber in the same manner that you would a live round. When you press the trigger on the firearm, the firing pin strikes the switch and the Laser Bullet shines the laser on your target for a fraction of a second. After re-cocking the firearm, you are ready to shoot again. Continue reading Hits Arms Laser Bullet Review
