SHOT Show 2014 Day 2

imageWe spent most of Day 2 with Mile High Shooting Accessories and Accuracy International North America. Scott Sigmund was nice enough to walk us through the improvements to the AX308 system. The AX308 now boasts most of the features of the Accuracy International PSR rifle, but in a short action package. The whole rifle can be broken down into a “carry on” sized hard case. This opens up a vast number of options for professional snipers or even the average competitive shooter who has to shoehorn a rifle into a compact rental car. Continue reading SHOT Show 2014 Day 2

Hiperfire Hipertouch 24E Trigger Review

Hipertouch24E_20140106_T3i_009_1080AR15 triggers are a dime a dozen. I have lost count of how many different triggers I have shot. Single stage, two stage, standard GI style, the list goes on. It takes a lot to get me excited about a new AR trigger.

When I first came across the Hiperfire line of triggers I was intrigued. The trigger does not look like any other trigger on the market. I sent an email to Hiperfire and promptly got a reply from Terry Bender, the owner and designer. Terry was happy to call me to explain how the trigger functions and what distinguishes it from other AR triggers. A couple days later a brand new Hipertouch 24E showed up at our door.

Sharing is Caring

IMG_2739As I read a recent thread on Sniper’s Hide, I had to take a minute to ponder my place in the shooting sports.

The original poster asked how the members feel about letting other people handle their firearms. He also threw in the “warrior” theory that no one other than a teammate should touch your weapon. I encourage you to read the original post on SH to get an idea of the full context.

I founded 8541 Tactical with a desire to share what knowledge and experience I have with others in the community. My overall goal is to help the community grow by attracting new shooters. I have found one of the most personal ways to do this is to put my rifle in a new shooters hands. Making that first shot one of the most enjoyable possible is a way to leave them wanting more. Magpul Relocating to Wyoming and Texas

IMG_0099In a press release Thursday, Magpul announced that they will be moving their manufacturing, shipping and distribution operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Magpul is still considering sites, but announced its intent to move the corporate headquarters to Texas. The move will commence as soon as the facility is selected.

Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul Industries stated, “These dual moves will be carried out in a manner that ensures our operations and supply chain will not be interrupted and our loyal customers will not be affected.”

NL_productimage_odd_CO-PMAGSThe move was prompted when Colorado enacted extremely restrictive firearms laws in 2013. Magpul led the fight to block the new legislation, which ultimately passed and was signed into law.
